In this 1935 classic starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers (widely regarded as the dance pair's best film), showman Jerry Travers (Astaire) is working for producer Horace Hardwick (Edward Everett Horton) in London. Jerry demonstrates his new dance moves late one night in Horace's hotel, much to the annoyance of sleeping Dale Tremont (Rogers) below. She goes upstairs to complain and the sparks fly. Romantic complications arise when Dale mistakes Jerry for Horace. Top Hat was nominated for four 1935 Oscars (Best Picture, Music, Art Direction and in the now defunct Dance Direction category).
